Guadalupe Garcia, “Lupita”, is a Biochemical Engineer specialized in food and pharmaceutical development.

She concluded her studies in Mexico City with hopes to have a career in the food industry.

After some time working in different industries including food production and pharmaceuticals, Lupita would later find herself developing spirits at a prominent industry leading company, where she would spend the next 10 years honing her skills and expanding her role.

During Lupita’s tenure at Pernod Ricard, she learned the process of distillation and held key roles from working the bottling line to developing rum, brandy and even pioneering new formulas for waste reduction in shelf stable distillates.

For the past decade, Lupita has worked closely with Master Distiller and mentor Ivan Saldaña as an integral part of spirit development for Casa Lumbre, a renowned Mexican craft spirits company.

She has proudly spearheaded the creation of several authentic and innovative Latin spirits to the world.

With Casa Lumbre, Lupita has had the opportunity to not only experiment with amazing, endemic raw materials, such as chiles, agave and creole corn, but to create spirits and beverages that represent her heart and soul; the very core of who she is: México.

Lupita’s talent does not end with her scientific understanding. She has one of the most advanced palates in the entire company and has the ability to dream of a combination of flavors and aromas, then make them a reality that can be nosed and tasted, in a matter of days.

In 2020, Lupita set out to develop an innovative filtration process in 100% American corn vodka, by bringing to life The Community Spirit vodka through a characteristic and super smooth coconut carbon filtration process.

In addition to her passion for flavor and spirit development, Lupita also focuses a lot of her time on researching new ways of how to give back to the local communities and be more socially responsible, such as developing a massive composting system for bagaso (spent agave fiber) at the Montelobos palenque in Oaxaca.

As for her legacy, Lupita would like to continue to grow and innovate through the creation of spirits and beverages endemic to Mexico and the Americas. Her dream is for the entire world to build an emotional connection with the flavors of her home.
